Influence of Imam Hussain (a.s) & Karabala ideology on Nelson Mandela – by S H Bangas

460_2_460246

This Year The Arbaeen or Chehlum of Imam Hussain(a.s) is on December 24 for Which Millions of Pilgirms global Marcch to Karabala is started While on December 25 is Christmas the day related to Hazrat Essa/Jesus(a.s) and both have some connections message of Humanity Dignity Liberty and voice for Oppressed against Oppression that is Why Billboards attached in pictures Tiltle JESUS a.s & IMAM HUSSAIN  a.s spreaded globally especially in London.

Influence of Imam Hussain (a.s) & Karabala ideology on Nelson Mandela:-
Imam Hussain(a.s) and Karbala movement is ideal for all oppressed nations and freedom seeking movements of the world. Even for the Nelson Mandela.According to one of the writings of him Nelson Mandela wrote:- I(Nelson Mandela) has spent more than 20 years in prison, then on one night I decided to surrender by signing all the terms and conditions of government.BUT suddenly  I thought about Imam Hussain and Karbala movement and  Imam Hussain give me strenght to stand for right of freedom and liberation and I did.

Millions Marching towards Karbala for Chehlum :-
Number forty is mystic in Theosophy. According to the Islamic culture if
someone practices a good deed constantly during forty days, it would be his
inseparable attribute and lead to descending of God’s blessing. In some
religions forty days and forty nights praying has been special position.

When Prophet Moses (AS) prayed forty nights; found the ability to hear the
words of God, “And when We appointed a time of forty nights with Musa, then
you took the calf (for a god) after him and you were unjust.” [Holy Quran
2:51]

Holy prophet Muhammad (SAWW) said, “Whoever dedicates himself to God for
forty days, will find springs of wisdom sprout out of his heart and flow on
his tongue.”

The fortieth day of Imam Hussain (AS)’s martyrdom is called Arbaeen or
Chehlum. In this day belivers commemorate Imam Hussain’s revolution. These
forty days are a suitable opportunity for people to develop the love of Imam
Hussain (AS) and hate his murderers, in their hearts. Forty consecutive
days, from Ashura up to Arbaeen, also is a national ceremony of aversion
announcement from oppressors of the history.

In the first Arbaeen, Hazrat Jabir Ibn Abdullah(ra) the fellow of Holy
Prophet Muhammad(saww) was the person who pilgrimage the holy shrine of Imam
Hussain (A.S) as first Arbaeen or Chehlu. According to some narrations,
captive family of Imam Hussain (AS), in the way of returning to Medina from
Sham(Syria), visited Hazrat Jabir Ibn Abdullah(ra) and pilgrimage tombs of
Ashura’s martyrs. So Arbaeen is observed from that time & belivers from both
sects of Islam either Shia or Sunni pay homegae to the Holy Shrine of Imam
Hussain(a.s)from all over the World.Even they face terrorisim acts from the
oppressors & cruel dictaotr regime of Ummaiyd’s Abbasid’s, Saddam’s and the
recent occupied forces. But yet hunmdreds of thousands(Millions) are marching
towards Karabala every year and this is really the death to Yazediat either
of Ummaiyd’s Abbasid’s, Saddam’s dictator regime with addition to Yazeed of
the day the occupied forces especially “Shatan-e-Bozorg” USA.
This year Chehlum is important for Iraqis that the Occupied forces and
today Yazeed America leave the Iraq after strong Resistance by Iraqi nation. Now
America and its Yazedi partners Alqaeda and Taliban Khawareej of Todays want to
destroy anti Israiel Syria government and Holy Shrines of Imam
Hussain(a.s) sister Bibi Zainab(s.a) and daughter Bibi Sakina(s.a) in
Syria But the Imam Hussain(a.s) ideaology is defeating America and its
Yazedi partners Alqaeda and Taliban Khawareej of Todays in Syria as in
Iraq.

Arabeen or Chehlum and the saying of “LABIK YA HUSSAIN(a.s) by miiliions of
people is indeed the Freedom against occupied forces especially Yazeed of
the time “Shatan-e-Bozorg” the zionists backed american regime, not talking about american people Because they love JESUS(A.S) & Humanity.

“O Hussain(A.S), commemoration of your revolution from Ashura up to Arbaeen
makes the world pay attention to the message of the resurrection. Ashura is
martyrdom day of the history makers and Arbaeen is pilgrimage day of Ashura
makers.

Arbaeen philosophy shows itself, and we can teach martyrdom lesson from this
class and prepare ourselves in order to help awaited global Saviour
Hazrat-e-Mahdi (A.S) (May God hasten his reappearance).According to poet:-

WORLD IS WAITING FOR JUSTICE

JUSTICE IS WAITING FOR MAHDI
*

Arbaeen Aamal and Ziyarat:-
*

20th Safar is the day of Arbaeen, the 40th day after the martyrdom of Imam
Hussain (AS), his friends and relatives in Karbala on 10th Muharram.

According to Imam Hassan al-Askari (A.S) today it is highly desirable to:

Pray 51 Rakat Namaz (Salaat) during the 24 hours of the day of Arbaeen, [17
Rakats in Wajib (obligatory) and 34 Rakats in Naafilah].

Be in Karbala for Ziyarat of Imam Hussain (AS) and other martyrs, and if it
is not possible, then recite Ziyarat of Imam Hussain (AS) and the other
martyrs of Karbala from wherever you are.

To put the forehead on the earth (preferably earth of Karbala) in
prostration.

To pronounce “Bismillah Hir Rahman Nir Raheem” in clear and loud voice while
praying the Salaat.

Imam Jafar al-Sadiq (AS) has advised the faithful to recite the Ziyarat of
the day of Arbaeen.

After the recitation of Ziyarat, pray two Rakat Salaat.
*

Imam Khomeini’s words & Impacts of KARBALA IDEALOGY on ISLAMIC REVOLUTION:-
*

The two great revolution or victory for freedom fighters especially the 20
th Century Islamic revolution(Feb1979) whose thirty(31) anniversaly is
observed this week,While the 21 th century (July-Aug2006) victory of
HizbAllah against ISRAEL the illegal son of USA is indded due to following
Karabala idealogy. And it is the death to Yazedi forces of the day USA &
ISRAEL.

Down with Yazediyat Down with AMERICA & Down with ISRAEL and thier Puppets TAKFERI TERRORISTS IN SYRIA. Is the message of Ashura & Arbaeen or Chehlum.

According to Saying of Imam Khomenei the founder of Islamic
revolution:-“Indeed it is Holy Month of Muharram(Ashura) & Safar(Arbaeen or
Chehlum)Who save the Islam & What we have (Islamic revolution ) is due to
following KARBALA idealogy”

Muharram is a month in which justice has raised against the injustice and it
has proved that as far as the history is concerned, Justice has always been
the conqueror.

Muharram is a month which has been revived by the Lord of warriors for the
faith and the Muslim martyrs and was freed from the plots of the immoral men
of Banni Omayyeh which put Islam in the threshold of decadence.

This is the blood of the Lord of Martyrs (Imam Hussain) which can stir the
blood of all of the Islamic nations.

Muharram is the month of the great movement of the Lord of the martyrs and
also of the God’s Saints, who has taught the mankind the way of one’s
purification and state of being strong, through his raising against the
tyrant. He considered sacrifice as the way which would lead to decadence of
the tyrant and defeat of any dictators. The point which is the highlight of
the Islamic educational affairs for all nations forever.

With the initiation of the month of Muharram, [in fact], the month of
bravery and sacrifice started. The month during which the blood conquered
the sword.

The month of Muharram the month which is the solid proof of the defeat of
the superpowers before the word of righteousness. The month during which the
Islamic nation’s Imam has taught us the way of campaign against the tyrants
of the history.

The martyrdom of the Lord of the martyrs revived the Islamic school of
thought.

Refreshing the memory of Ashura (the day on which Imam Hussain (AS) became
martyr, Muharram 10), is a task of high political and religious importance.

Refresh the name of Karbala, and the holy name of the Lord of the martyrs
for, through this Islam will remain alive.

Revive this month of Muharram for; it is responsible for all [the blessings]
that we have.

The memorial ceremonies held for the commemoration of the Lord of martyrs
and the ones who possess free will, is the place where the knowledge defeats
ignorance, justice conquers, the priority of trust over traitorousness, must
be held as gloriously as possible. And also the red flags of Ashura should
be kept flying as a sign of the emergence of the day in which there will be
a retaliatory measure on behalf of the oppressed against the tyrant.

Ashura is the national mourning day of the oppressed nation and a day of
bravery and the new birth of Islam and the Muslims.

It is the sacrifice of the Lord of the martyrs which has kept Islam alive
(for us).

The month of Muharram is the month in which the Yazid like powers and the
satanic plots would be defeated.

The martyrdom of Lord of the oppressed and the believers of Quran, the
beginning of the eternal life of Islam and the one of the Holy Quran all
happened in Muharram.

The Lord of martyrs (A.S) created the great movement of the Ashura and saved
Islam and justice through sacrifice, devoting his blood and the blood of his
family.

The Lord of martyr’s immune the religion and Islam through his measure.

Imam Hussain (A.S) sacrificed himself along with his children and relatives.
After his martyrdom Islam was enforced.

Influence of Arbaeen or Chehlum on the Psyche of American Soldiers:-
*

Even this Arbaeen or Chehlum the march of millions of
devoters(men,women,aged & children) has Influence

on the Psyche of american soldiers(US Marines) which is clearly visible from
the Letter of US Marine Tom when he saw the ocean of people towards Karbala
shrine after the fall of american puppet Saddam’s dictator regime. This
Letter rember the great saying of Imam Khomenei that :-
“We are not against the people of USA ,But we are against the cruel policies
of American regime”.

Imam Khomenei when stated these words two decades ago some circles are
considering it dual But It was the Knowledge & vision of Ayatullah (Spritual
& Supreme Leader) predicting the future very precisely & accurately.

The world has witnessed this when hundred of thousands american people
protested on Roads in USA after the USA attack on Iraq the Letter of Tom is
also a step forward proving Imam Khomenei’s saying true .

Let’s come to Toms letter that How KARBALA ideaology especially Arbaeen or
Chehlum has influence on the Psyche of US Soldiers.
Tom U.S marine from Iraq (Karbala)Letter to his Mom at Houston(America)
*Published in various sources of Media including Pakistani newspaper Dawn
Sunday edition ten years ago just after the invasion of Iraq.

He Writes

“Hi Mom! I am your son Tom. This is my third day in a trench close to the
town of Karbala. They revere the place. People here say Hussain, the grandson
of their Prophet Muhammad, had laid down his life along with entire male
members of his family, including a six month infant, in the name of Allah,
their God…
At least I have not traveled all the way from Houston to this desert country
to fight in the name of God. We are here because our President desired us to
be here.”

The Letter of US Soldiers to thier Parents like the above of Tom’s have
changed the vision of american think tank that they can never stay for long
or occupy this Holy Land full of Sprituailty due to Master of Martyrs Hazrat
Imam Hussain(a.s) that is Why the US adminstration is changing its polices
and making plans for withdrawl of forces from Iraq.According to latest
reports dozens of US Soldiers are converting to Islam after seeing the
devotion and spirit of millions of devoters march  towards the Shrine of
Imam Hussain(a.s)……….While USA admin are hiring psychiatrists to
solove this problem of US Soldiers according to US army reports.

Indeed it is glorious Victory for KARBALA IDEAOLGY and simply in words of
Imam Khomenei that :-“Indeed it is Holy Month of Muharram(Ashura) &
Safar(Arbaeen or Chehlum)Who save the Islam & What we have is due to
following KARBALA idealogy”.Lets say.

*HUSSAINIAT ZINDABAD    YAZEDIYAT MURDABAD.*

Indeed Imam Hussain(a.s) and Karbala  changed the proverb “Might is Right
into “The Right is the Might” according to opinion of these Non Muslims and
Muslims Scholars, global Eyes.

According to the global constitution for humnity Quran it is saying that
Think not of those who are slain

in God’s way as dead. Nay, they are living, finding their sustenance in the
presence of their Lord

(Qur’an 3:169)

With addition to Holy Quran many traditions of Holy Prophet(savww) about
Imam Hussain(a.s) among famous , “Hassan(a.s) and Hussain(a.s) are my sons
and Imams they are on true path either they do truce or war (muslim ummah
sould folow them)” Similarly

“Hassan(a.s) and Hussain(a.s) are the leader of the Youth of Paradise and
their Father Ali(a.s) has a more elevated status than them”. These
Ahadithas are accepted to all Muslims(Mutfiq Aleh) .

Hence Holy Prophet clearly mentioned the Truth and Evil path and stressed
the ummah to follow truth.

While according to holy saying of Hazrat Imam Jaffare-Sadiq (A.S) “Ever day
is Ashura and Every Place(City) is Karbala”.

There is lot of work on Karbala and Hazrat Imam Hussain(AS) in diffrent
religions and literature of the world to pay homage to the greatest
sacrifice of Syed-e-Shuhad Hazrat Imam Hussain(a.s).Karbala is an ideal for
freedom seekers and oppressed nations or people of the world without any
discrimination. The proof of which is the Homage(tribute)paid tograndson of
thethe holy Prophet & Rahmatul-lil-Alimeen Hazrat Muhammad (s.a.w.w)
Syed-e-Shuhada Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) even by non Muslims .

Karbala is ideal for all ages either it is Past or today (present) and even
for future. In today,s Muslims World we have examples of Islamic
Reveloution of Iran and Resistance of HizbAllah and Hamas who followed
KARABALA ideaology as ideal by following Imam Khomenei(r.a) by defeating
the arrogant and evils powers like Yazeed of the time America and
israiel. The awareness of Imam Khomenei based of Karbala reached to Middle
East as Arab,s Spring against dictators and even at the heart of Europe and
america in the form of “Occupy Wall Street Movement” , awareness created in
euorpian and american citzens against oppressors. Therefore Karabla
ideaology and Imam Hussain(a.s) is becaon of light for real freedom seeking
movements and oppressed of the world.
*

Imam Khomenei Great words about Krabala:-
*

It is great words of Imam Khomenei about influence of Karabala and Imam
Hussain(a.s) taht “People were declaring as nation of weeping doing Azadari
and Matam e Imam Hussain(a.s) BUT with these weeping and Azadari we have
thrown the centuries long dictator regime of american puppets from iran”.It
is worth mentioning that Islamic Revolution movement started after
preaching started by Imam Khomenei in Muharram Majalis & Aazadri. It is
also the great words and predection of Imam Khomenei thirty years ago came
true now saying that” we are not against american people But american
government and zionist controlled estileshment doing terrorisim all over
the world”.The huge protests inside america attacks on Iraq & Afghanistan
after so called war on terror and recent “Occupy Wall Street Movement” is
best proof. Similarly Khawaja Moin udin Chesti & Dr Allama Iqbal with
addition to thousands of other muslims Scholars declared Karbala as Ideal
for Huminty and oppressed.

¬ ¬ ¬ ¬ ¬
*

Khwaja Mu inu d-Din Chishti says:”
*

.As the beloved saint-poet of the Indopak subcontinent, Khawaja Moinuddin
Chishti (of Ajmir) had said: “Indeed Hussain (A.S.) is the architect of
‘Laa Ilaaha Illallah’ both are reciprocally related to each other.” Imam
Hussain(AS)gave his head but did not put his hand into the hands of Yazid.
Verily,Hussain(AS) is the foundation of la ilaha illa Allah. Husayn is lord
and the lord of lords. Husain (AS)himself is Islam and the shield of Islam.
Though he gave his head (for Islam) but never pledged Yazid Laeen. Truly
Husain(A.S) is the founder of “There is no Deity except Allah.

SHAH AAST HUSSAIN BADSHAH AAST HUSSAIN

DEEN AAST HUSSAIN DEEN PANAH ASST HUSSAIN

SAAR DAAD NA DAAD DAST DAR DASTE YAZEED

HAQA K BINA-E-LA-ILLAH ASSAT HUSSAIN

¬ ¬ ¬ ¬ ¬

*

“Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbla says: the philosopher & poet of Pakistan ideology says,
*

Dr Allama Iqbal besides declaring Karabala as ideal for real freedom
sekking movements by stressing and predicting on coming to Roads and
streets for Matam and Aazadri against evil powers as done by Islamic
Revolution,HizbAllah and Hamas ,Also predicted and exposed the so called
Muslims actually Khawareej like today’s Alqaeda and Taliban in the name of
Jihad and Islam defemaing Islam globally.

Firstly Iqbal encourage real freedom movements to resist and says,

NIKAL KAR KHANKAHO SAI ADDA KAR RASM-E-SHABERI(A.S)

K FIKRE KHANKHAI HAI ANDOH WO DIL GADAZI

TEHRAN HO AGAR ALLAM E MASHRIQ KA GENEVA

SHAID K KORE-E-AARZ KI TAQDEER BADAL JAYE

Similarly Iqbal exposed 1400 years Yazeed and Ummay;s Dictators also
predicted and exposed the today,s Yazeedis in the form of alqaeda, taliban
and sipahe yazeed defaming islam globally.

AAJAB MAZAQ HAI ISLAM KI TAQDEER K SATH

KATA HUSSAIN(A.S) KA SAAR NARA-E-TAKBEER K SATH

NA HAQ K LEYE UOTEY TO SHAMESHER BHEE FETNA

SHAMESHEER HEE KIA NARA-YE-TAKBEER BHEE FETNA

These above urdu poetry of Iqbal on one side apperciate the real freedom
seeking movements like Islamic Revolution HizbAllah & Hamas also exposed
the todays Yazedis in the form of alqaeda, taliban and sipahe yazeed
defaming islam globally and working as justification and puppets for Yazeed
e waqat america and zionists. occupation of the world.Iqbal exposed that
1400 years Imam Hussain(a.s) was martyred by Yazeed Laeen army by raising
slogan of Allah is great(Allah o Akbar) while also exposed todays yazeedis
in the form of alqaeda, taliban and sipahe yazeed saying that these wicket
will also murdering innocent citizensby raising the slogan Allah is
great(Allah o Akbar)defaming islam globally.

Dr. Muhammad Iqbalhad declared Imam Hussain(a.s) as ideal by saying that
“Ismaeel was the beginning (first step), Hussain was the ultimate.”Imam
Husain (A.S)uprooted despotism forever till the Day of Resurrection.
He(A.S) watered the dry garden of freedom with the surging wave of his
blood, and indeed he awakened the sleeping Muslim nation. If Imam
Husain(A.S) had aimed at acquiring a worldly empire, he would not have
travelled the way he did ( from Medina to Karbala). Husain(AS) weltered in
blood and dust for the sake of truth. Verily he, therefore, became the
bed-rock (foundation) of the Muslim creed; la ilaha illa Allah ( There is
no god but Allah).

NON-MUSLIMS SCHOLARS & INTELLECUALS VIEWS :-
*

Here we are giving the Views of Non Muslims about Syed-e-Shuhada Hazrat
Imam Hussain (A.S) and Karabala the war between the truth and evil .

The event of Karbala marks the greatest sacrifice for the sake of Allah in
the human history. The minute and stunning details of this great event have
been written and survived from the very first day by the eye witnesses.

For the last fourteen hundred centuries, the battle of Karbala reflects the
collision of the good versus the evil, the virtuous versus the wicked,
right versus the wrong, and the collision of Imam Husain (Alahe Salam, the
head of virtue) versus Yazid (Lanatullah, the head of impiety ).

*

Edward G. Brown,
* the professor of Arabic and oriental studies at the University of
Cambridge, praises Imam Husain in these words:

“… a reminder of the blood-stained field of Kerbela, where the grandson of
the Apostle of God fell at length, tortured by thirst and surrounded by the
bodies of his murdered kinsmen, has been at anytime since then sufficient
to evoke, even in the most lukewarm and heedless, the deepest emotions, the
most frantic grief, and an exaltation of spirit before which pain, danger
and death shrink to unconsidered trifles.”

[A Literary History of Persia, London, 1919, p. 227]
*

Edward Gibbon
*(1737-1794) Considered the greatest British historian of his time. · “In a
distant age and climate the tragic scene of the death of Hosein will awaken
the sympathy of the coldest reader.” [The Decline and Fall of the Roman
Empire , London, 1911, volume 5, pp. 391-2]

Peter J. Chelkowski
*Professor of Middle Eastern Studies, New York University .

· “Hussein accepted and set out from Mecca with his family and an entourage
of about seventy followers. But on the plain of Kerbela they were caught in
an ambush set by the … caliph, Yazid. Though defeat was certain, Hussein
refused to pay homage to him. Surrounded by a great enemy force, Hussein
and his company existed without water for ten days in the burning desert of
Kerbela. Finally Hussein, the adults and some male children of his family
and his companions were cut to bits by the arrows and swords of Yazid’s
army; his women and remaining children were taken as captives to Yazid in
Damascus. The renowned historian Abu Reyhan al-Biruni states; “… then fire
was set to their camp and the bodies were trampled by the hoofs of the
horses; nobody in the history of the human kind has seen such atrocities.”
[Ta’ziyeh: Ritual and Drama in Iran, New York, 1979, p. 2]

Simon Ockley
*(1678-1720) Professor of Arabic at the University of Cambridge .

· “Then Hosein mounted his horse, and took the Koran and laid it before
him, and, coming up to the people, invited them to the performances of
their duty: adding, ‘O God, thou art my confidence in every trouble, and my
hope in all adversity!’… He next reminded them of his excellency, the
nobility of his birth, the greatness of his power, and his high descent,
and said, ‘Consider with yourselves whether or not such a man as I am is
not better than you; I who am the son of your prophet’s daughter, besides
whom there is no other upon the face of the earth. Ali was my father;
Jaafar and Hamza, the chief of the martyrs, were both my uncles; and the
apostle of God, upon whom be peace, said both of me and my brother, that we
were the chief of the youth of paradise. If you will believe me, what I say
is true, for by God, I never told a lie in earnest since I had my
understanding; for God hates a lie. If you do not believe me, ask the
companions of the apostle of God [here he named them], and they will tell
you the same. Let me go back to what I have.’ They asked, ‘What hindered
him from being ruled by the rest of his relations.’ He answered, ‘God
forbid that I should set my hand to the resignation of my right after a
slavish manner. I have recourse to God from every tyrant that doth not
believe in the day of account.'”

[The History of the Saracens, London, 1894, pp. 404-5]

Robert Durey Osborn
*(1835-1889) Major of the Bengal Staff Corps. “Hosain had a child named
Abdallah (Ali Asghar), only six months old. He had accompanied his father
in this terrible march. Touched by its cries, he took the infant in his
arms and wept. At that instant, a shaft from the hostile ranks pierced the
child’s ear, and it expired in his father’s arms. Hosain placed the little
corpse upon the ground. ‘We come from God, and we return to Him!’ he cried;
‘O Lord, give me strength to bear these misfortunes!’ … Faint with thirst,
and exhausted with wounds, he fought with desperate courage, slaying
several of his antagonists. At last he was cut down from behind; at the
same instance a lance was thrust through his back and bore him to the
ground; as the dealer of this last blow withdrew his weapon, the ill-fated
son of Ali rolled over a corpse. The head was severed from the trunk; the
trunk was trampled under the hoofs of the victors’ horses; and the next
morning the women and a surviving infant son were carried away to Koufa.
The bodies of Hosain and his followers were left unburied on the spot where
they fell. For three days they remained exposed to the sun and the night
dews, the vultures and the prowling animals of the waste; but then the
inhabitants of a neighbouring village, struck with horror that the body of
a grandson of the Prophet should be thus shamefully abandoned to the
unclean beasts of the field, dared the anger of Obaidallah, and interred
the body of the martyr and those of his heroic friends. [Islam Under the
Arabs, Delaware, 1976, pp. 126-7]

As the Imam of the time and true representative of his grandfather Prophet
Muhammad (SAVW), Imam Husain (A.S) stood up against the tyrant of the time
to safeguard and protect Islam and guide fellow Muslims. On the other hand,
the staying power of the rulers (Mu’awiya and his son Yazid) depended
solely on the might of the sword. They used brute force to rule over the
Muslim empire even by all possible illicit means.

By the time the sun was set, the day of Ashura in the plains of Karbala,
witnessed Imam Husain (A) giving up everything humanly possible in the way
of God including his 72 brave and loyal followers and his 6 months
beautiful baby, Ali Asghar. In the wake of such a great sacrifices, the
Quran praises as:

Before the battle of Karbala, the world knew only the rule that “The Might
is the Right”. However, the day of Assura introduced even more powerful
rule to this world; “The Right is the Might” . Now, the blood of the
innocent could win over the sword of a tyrant.

Mahatma Gandhi’s first Salt Satyagrah was inspired by Imam Hussain’s non
violent resistance to the tyranny of Yazid. Gandhi is said to have studied
the history of Islam and Imam Hussain (A), and was of the opinion that
Islam represented not the legacy of a sword but of sacrifices of saints
like Imam Hussain (A).
*

Mahatma Gandhi
*writes:”My faith is that the progress of Islam does not depend on the use
of sword by its believers, but the result of the supreme sacrifice of
Hussain (A), the great saint.”

Nehru considered Karbala to represent humanities strength and
determination. He writes:
“Imam Hussain’s (A) sacrifice is for all groups and communities, an example
of the path of righteousness.”
*

Dr. Rajendra Prasad
* writes, “The sacrifice of Imam Hussain (A) is not limited to one country,
or nation, but it is the hereditary state of the brotherhood of all
mankind.” *

Dr. Radha Krishnan
* writes, “Though Imam Hussain (A) gave his life almost 1300 years ago, but
his indestructible soul rules the hearts of people even today.” *

Swami Shankaracharya
* describes, “It is Hussain’s (A) sacrifice that has kept Islam alive or
else in this world there would be no one left to take Islam’s name.” *

Mrs. Sarojini Naidu
* writes, “I congratulate Muslims that from among them, Hussain (A), a
great human being was born, who is reverted and honored totally by all
communities” *

Thomas Carlyle
* (Scottish historian and essayist) explains: “The best lesson which we get
from the tragedy of Karbala is that Husain and his companions were rigid
believers in God. They illustrated that the numerical superiority does not
count when it comes to the truth and the falsehood. The victory of Husain,
despite his minority, marvels me!”

Imam Hussain (A.S.) explains the mission of his sacrifice in his own words:
“I have taken this stand not out of arrogance or pride, neither out of
mischief or injustice. I have risen to seek reform in the community of my
grandfather. I would like to bid good, forbid evil, and follow the
tradition of my grandfather and my father ‘Ali bin Abi Talib(A.S).”
*

Charles Dickens
* (English novelist) writes: “If Husain had fought to quench his worldly
desires…then I do not understand why his sister, wife, and children
accompanied him. It stands to reason therefore, that he sacrificed purely
for Islam.”

In spite of all the painful aspects of Karbala, it holds a great
significance in the Islamic history, for the revolution of Imam Husain (A)
was not merely an event which had taken place by chance. It was rather a
movement for the revival of Islam. Imam Hussain (A) declared his noble
mission right from the day one.
*

Antoine Bara
* (Christian & Lebanese writer ) writes: “:* If Hussain was one of us, we
would have put up a flag and a minaret for him in every part of the earth
and called the people to Christianity!* No battle in the modern and past
history of mankind has earned more sympathy and admiration as well as
provided more lessons than the martyrdom of Husayn in the battle of
Karbala.” (Husayn in Christian Ideology)

History has seen numerous massacres of innocent people, but the tragedy of
Karbala is one of the few where men, women and children voluntarily allowed
themselves to be subjected to hunger, thirst, humiliation and death on the
burning sands of Karbala because they believed that Imam Hussain (A) stood
for righteousness. Little wonder that for over 1400 years Muslims, have
been nurturing the tale of Karbala in their hearts like an open wound, lest
they should forget the supreme sacrifice of Imam Hussain (A) and his
followers.

Great spiritual leaders are known to make great sacrifices, but at Karbala,
common men and women with infants at their bosom, their hearts and souls
aflame with righteousness, chose death rather than evil and weakness. Such
was the greatness of Imam Hussain (A); such was his spiritual power, which
could uplift common mortals to heights of supreme courage and sacrifice.
*

Dr. K. Sheldrake
* writes: “Of that gallant band, male and female knew that the enemy forces
around were implacable, and were not only ready to fight, but to kill.
Denied even water for the children, they remained parched under the burning
sun and scorching sands, yet not one faltered for a moment. Husain marched
with his little company, not to glory, not to power of wealth, but to a
supreme sacrifice, and every member bravely faced the greatest odds without
flinching.” *

Dr. Radha Krishnan
*writes “Though Imam Hussain gave his life years ago, but his
indestructible soul rules the hearts of people even today.”

The tragedy of Karbala took place in 680 AD on the banks of the Euphrates
in Iraq but Karbala has a universal appeal and in today’s climate of
violence, it is more relevant than ever. The tragedy of Karbala and its
spirit of non-violent resistance and supreme sacrifice has been a source of
inspiration to the likes of Mahatma Gandhi and Pandit Nehru.
*

Simon Ockley
*(1678-1720), the Professor of Arabic at the University of Cambridge
writes:

“Then Husain mounted his horse, and took the Koran and laid it before him,
and, coming up to the people, invited them to the performances of their
duty: adding, ‘O God, thou art my confidence in every trouble, and my hope
in all adversity!’… He next reminded them of his excellencies, the nobility
of his birth, the greatness of his power, and his high descent, and said,
‘Consider with yourselves whether or not such a man as I am is not better
than you; I who am the son of your prophet’s daughter, besides whom there
is no other upon the face of the earth. Ali was my father; Jaafar and
Hamza, the chief of the martyrs, were both my uncles; and the apostle of
God, upon whom be peace, said both of me and my brother, that we were the
chief of the youth of paradise. If you will believe me, what I say is true,
for by God, I never told a lie in earnest since I had my understanding; for
God hates a lie. If you do not believe me, ask the companions of the
apostle of God [here he named them], and they will tell you the same. Let
me go back to what I have.’ They asked, ‘What hindered him from being ruled
by the rest of his relations.’ He answered, ‘God forbid that I should set
my hand to the resignation of my right after a slavish manner. I have
recourse to God from every tyrant that doth not believe in the day of
account.'”

Ignaz Goldziher
* (1850-1921), the Famous Hungarian orientalist scholar writes:

“Ever since the black day of Karbala, the history of this family … has been
a continuous series of sufferings and persecutions. These are narrated in
poetry and prose, in a richly cultivated literature of martyrologies – a
Shi’i specialty – and form the theme of Shi’i gatherings in the first third
of the month of Muharram, whose tenth day (‘ashura) is kept as the
anniversary of the tragedy at Karbala. Scenes of that tragedy are also
presented on this

day of commemoration in dramatic form (ta’ziya). ‘Our feast days are our
assemblies of mourning.’ So concludes a poem by a prince of Shi’i
disposition recalling the many mihan of the Prophet’s family. Weeping and
lamentation over the evils and persecutions suffered by the ‘Alid family,
and mourning for its martyrs: these are things from which loyal supporters
of the cause cannot cease. ‘More touching than the tears of the Shi’is’ has
even become an Arabic proverb.”

Reynold Alleyne Nicholson
*(1868-1945), Sir Thomas Adams Professor of Arabic at the University of
Cambridge, writes, “Husayn fell, pierced by an arrow, and his brave
followers were cut down beside him to the last man. Muhammadan tradition,
which with rare exceptions is uniformly hostile to the Umayyad dynasty,
regards Husayn as a martyr and Yazid as his murderer.”

Robert Durey Osborn
* (1835-1889), the Major of the Bengal Staff Corps, writes, “Hosain had a
child named Abdallah, only a year old. He had accompanied his father in
this terrible march. Touched by its cries, he took the infant in his arms
and wept. At that instant, a shaft from the hostile ranks pierced the
child’s ear, and it expired in his father’s arms. Hosain placed the little
corpse upon the ground. ‘We come from God, and we return to Him!’ he cried;
The bodies of Hosain and his followers were left unburied on the spot where
they fell. For three days they remained exposed to the sun and the night
dews, the vultures and the prowling animals of the waste; but then the
inhabitants of a neighboring village, struck with horror that the body of a

grandson of the Prophet should be thus shamefully abandoned to the unclean
beasts of the field, dared the anger of Obaidallah, and interred the body
of the martyr and those of his heroic friends.”

Sir William Muir
* (1819-1905), the Scottish scholar and statesman and held the post of
Foreign Secretary to the Indian government as well as Lieutenant Governor
of the Northwestern Provinces writes: “The tragedy of Karbala decided not
only the fate of the caliphate, but of the Mohammedan kingdoms long after
the Caliphate had waned and disappeared.”

[Annals of the Early Caliphate, London, 1883, pp. 441-2]

Karbala symbolizes the true face of struggle against injustice –
non-violent resistance. Not taking life but sacrificing your life for
Islam. In summary, it is not out of place to say in words of some known
Indian poets:

In the last lets see the Influence of Karbala in present or 21 st century .

For this we have to see the post Iraq attacks by the evil force or Yazeedi
force of today that is Uncle Sam .

But yet the Karbala has influence on the people of America especially its
soldiers(mairines) working in Iraq,According to latest survey many american
Soldiers in Iraq converted to Islam due to influence of Ashora & Arbaeeen
by stydying and seeing the devoters at Karabala and other cities of
Iraq. This can be observed from the letter below written by US marine
*

Tom U.S marine from Iraq (Karbala)Letter to his Mom at Houston(America)
*Published in various sources of Media including Pakistani newspaper Dawn
Sunday edition.

Let’s come to Toms letter (sent after Iraq invasion ) that How KARBALA has
influence on the Psyche of U.S Soldiers.

He Writes *”Hi Mom! I am your son Tom. This is my third day in a trench
close to the town of Karbala. They revere the place. People here say
Hussain, the grandson of their Prophet Muhammad, had laid down his life
along with entire male members of his family, including a six month infant,
in the name of Allah, their God… *

*At least I have not traveled all the way from Houston to this desert
country to fight in the name of God. We are here because our President
(American
President)desired us to be here.”
*

This clearly shows that the so called war against terror and regime change
in the name of democracy started by U.S Israel and its alleys(Zionists
lobby) in different parts of world like Afghanistan,Iraq,Syria,Pakistan is
even rejected by its own citizen who started Occupy Wall street movement
inside America and Europe as well by hundreds of American soldiers and
marines like Tom who are in tension and Psychological diseases. The recent
attack of Gaza by illegal Zionists state isarel and Obama regime support
for this brutaliity will be the cause of destruction of America the today,s
biggest evil and yazeedi force as already the liberation movement petition
in more than 20 states of so called Unites States of America already
started if Almighty Allah willing American brutality ending soon.

Results and Conclusion
* After observing the above mentioned worldwide scholars views we can say
that those who are following real Muhammadi Islam and karbala ideaology
like the victory of HizbAllah on Lebanon & Hamas in Palestine Gaza against
israel by going on the path and idealogy of Karbala is ray of hope for all
freedom movements of the world that “If they consider Karbala as ideal then
the success and glorious victory is waiting for them”.Similar victory is
waiting for Arab;s spring and Occupy Wall Street Movement if they declares
KARBALA as idealLet us pray for the arrival and revolution of the world
saviour Imam Mahdi(A.S) for whom the whole world is waiting and who will
establish a government of Islam & balance society based on justice
throughout the globe by punishing all the involved Yazedis in Karbala of
all ages. Those who want to study Imam Mahdi(a.s) global saviour upcoming

Imam Hussain and His Global Appeal
    Dr. Mazhar Naqvi

Imam Husain’s sacrifice is widely accepted today as a global representation of fight against oppression and standing up against injustice and the embodiment of sacrifice. This acceptance is indicative of Imam’s revolution as a true victory of Islam over falsehood .The Scottish historian and essayist Thomas Carlyle has described the victory of Imam as “The best lesson which we get from the tragedy of Cerebella is that Husain and his companions were rigid believers in God. They illustrated that the numerical superiority does not count when it comes to the truth and the falsehood. The victory of Husain, despite his minority, marvels me!” It is not just Thomas Carlyle but millions of Muslims and non Muslims also who marvel at the victory of Imam despite that fact that he had technically lost the battle. Despite persecution of Imamis for the past 14 centuries, the charm of Muharram has neither diminished nor the oppressive forces has been able to check the ever increasing popularity of Imam Husain. He still remains an invisible guiding force behind each voice raised against oppression anywhere in the world.
The lessons and spirit of Muharram is now truly global and Imam Hussain is considered not as a savior of Islam but as a divine force who laid down his life for protecting the mankind. If he had not offered his life at Karbala, barbaric and fanatic monarchs, instead of democratic governments, would have been dominating the world. Allah , the most beneficent and merciful , has also granted an exalted status to Imam Hussain as he passed the examination in most trying conditions with flying colors. The assembly of people at Mecca, the birth Place of Islam and Karbala, is a pointed to the fact. Everyone knows that for Muslims, the pilgrimage to Hajj is an obligation if they are men and women of financial means. However the difference between number of pilgrims attending the annual Hajj and those visiting Karbala -a recommended but not mandatory pilgrimage- is just astonishing. Saudi Arabia records an approximate two million Hajj pilgrims per year whereas news agencies such as BBC have estimated the pilgrims at the Shrine of Imam Husain during Arbaeen ranging between ten to fourteen million. Millions of admirers of Imam from neighboring areas and countries resort to walking or biking to visit the shrine. While some flock there to witness many miraculous and phenomenal experiences that keep taking place there till today, others reach there for spiritual attainment in a somber atmosphere. It is an evident testament to the accord and interrelationship of freedom and fight against falsehood, atrocities and injustice.
