About

World Shia Forum

WSF is an international platform of progressive Shia Muslims. We believe in reconciliation with all sects and religions (Sunni, Salafi, Ahmadi, Christian, Jew, Hindu etc), and separation of state and religion. For aims and scope of the WSF, visit this post, ie, our About page.

Also of interest is this post: How can we organize better advocacy to stop Shia genocide in Pakistan?

Who can join WSF?

We invite all Shias (followers) of Imam Ali to join WSF. We are inclusive in our membership and support. All types and forms of Shias, e.g., Isna Ashari (twelvers), Ismaili (sixers), Alavi, Bohri, Zaidi etc are welcome. This includes Shias from diverse political and religious orientations including those who follow different Ayatollahs or scholars, those who don’t, those who follow or do not follow the notion of Vilayat-e-Faqih, those who strictly follow Shia sharia and those who do not etc.

In fact, even those Sunnis, Christians, Hindus, followers of other religions, and those who don’t follow a religion, can join the WSF if they consider Imam Ali and Imam Hussain as symbols of resistance against oppression, persecution and injustice, and want to highlight the ongoing persecution of Shia Muslims in Pakistan, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia and other countries.

    Salaam Alaykum,

A lot of Zawwar of the Ahlul Bayt are being stopped in airports and questioned by police – due to Counter-Terrorism initiatives – because the authorities suspect these Zawwar of going to countries like Iraq and Iran in order to carry out work with Terrorist organisations. The following link provided by my friend at the Islamic Human Rights Commission (IHRC) in London is a very useful read for Zawwar on how they can equip themselves with their rights if, God forbid, they are stopped at airports and questioned/arrested by police.
